Rental Companies:
Rental Companies are an important element to any event, whether you're having 25 people to dinner with not enough china or a wedding for 500 it's imperative that you trust your supplier. Stems Inc. has worked closely with the three vendors below and of course the final decision is yours but each is worth a phone call;
For events throughout the Hudson Valley www.rhinebeckrentals.com
For events throughout the Hudson Valley, The Adirondack Region, Lake Placid, all of New England with additional services in New Jersey and Connecticut you can count on www.cliftonparkrental.com
Clifton Park Rentals is a "one stop shop" for almost everything you can think of when it comes to rentals. Michael is available 24/7 and we mean it! Two years ago we had a client who on the day of the event decided the tent needed to be moved 10' to the West, it was 7:00 am and by 8:00 am Clifton Park had their staff on location and the tent was moved! That's service and it's priceless. Michael always has staff on site during your event, large or small. Whether monitoring the gorgeous portable restrooms, adjusting lights, putting up sides or taking them down you can count on every detail being attended to perfectly and promptly. We adore this crew.
For events throughout New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and the Mid Atlantic states we suggest www.partyrentalltd.com With 12 locations along the East Coast and an inventory list that lacks nothing other than the space shuttle, this vendor suits many clients. They have wonderful customer service and if there are any issues with delivered rental items they will fix it post haste.
Cakes & Confections
For the Hudson Valley Region we offer you Leslie...founder and baker extraordinaire! www.calicorhinebeck.com Leslie books well in advance and if the taste of your cake is as important as the look of your cake she's the one. A cake may not be your taste and that's OK becasue Leslie can bake anything! Everything we have ever tasted has been mouth watering and we use her services for all of our personal events to boot.
Photographers
Photographs are something that will last your lifetime and for generations after you. I still cherish pictures from my great grandparent's wedding so this is an area that we suggest NOT skimping on, ever. As for our recommendations, we have too many to list!
Our best suggestion to you is to view the photograpger credits listed beneath our gallery photos and click on the links that move you.
Venues and Lodging
The Hudson Valley Region is a destination filled with lodging options; ranging from our quaint hotel www.beekmandelamaterinn.com, with 73 rooms, a full restaurant and the hosts to the Clinton Wedding Rehearsal Party last summer, several B&B's and chain hotels just 15 minutes drive over the Hudson River to Kingston.
Caterers
I believe it was Chef Larry Forgione, awarded the James Beard "Chef of the Year" in the 80's, who really placed the Hudson Valley and its cuisine on the map through his operation of the Beekman Tavern. Chef Forgione championed local, farm fresh and free range foods to such a degree that he operated his own "free range" chicken farm in Warwick, NY in order to supply his restaurants. I've run into his son at the NY farmer's markets and under his father's tutelage he has learned the same approach to cuisine so although we no longer have the Forgione's in our area the Chef's listed here subscribe to the same philosophy; local, seasonal and farm fresh.
Our favorite, La Puerta Azul is now catering off site which is wonderful news!
We have worked extensively with Chef Viverito www.chefgerard.com, whether a small dinner party for 10 in your home or a wedding with 450 "foodies" in attendance he's a great choice. Chef Viverito has cooked for people around the globe and lucky for us he made his home in the Hudson Valley almost a decade ago. He is an acclaimed instructor at the CIA and because of that he is able to bring the freshest talent the country has to offer. His staff are pressed, competent and ready to serve.
One of our favorite client's often works with her favorite caterer and the reason is clear, Olivier Cheng Catering is an accomplished trio with experience that spans the globe including the royal palace in Qatar. Although they are located in New York City they have no trouble packing up their knives and their talented staff to come to the Hudson Valley. www.ocnyc.com
Rehearsal Dinners and Wedding Brunches
The Hudson Valley is knee deep in wonderful restaurants that can accommodate Rehearsal Dinners and Wedding Brunches...if you don't find a restaurant you're interested in listed here it simply means we have had no experience with them but we'll gladly take referrals from happy clients in you feel they should be added.
Millbrook New York is a quiet hamlet snuggled next to the Connecticut border. Our favorite spot is La Puerta Azul, www.lapuertaazul.com. If you are looking for the best high end Mexican Cuisine, refined decor and attentive staff this is a good place to start. Although LPA does an amazing brunch they have an uncanny ability to produce some of the most memorable dinners you can imagine. The food is exemplary; our favorites are the Corn Chowder, Table Side Guacamole and Salmon...the dessert menu has something for every person's taste and LPA has one of the most extensive and developed Beer menu's we have ever seen and one that will satisfy the most demanding palette. LPA has a passion for food and drink and it is evident the minute you walk through the door.
Rhinebeck New York is a very busy little town with restaurants that seem to outnumber the local population! Some of our favorites include Le Petit Bistro; 845 876 7400 (call well ahead of your wedding date, this is a very small restaurant that can probably seat 50) www.gigitrattoria.com draws a large crowd almost every night, situated in the center of town with outdoor dining it has become it's own destination. We love their "skizza" and you will too. The Terrapin is just across the street from Gigi's and although the food is as good The Terrapin has the capacity to seat larger groups, www.terrapinrestaurant.com.
Red Hook New York is found 3 miles north of Rhinebeck and although it is a much quieter town it is home to three great places for you to consider. For the best baked egg and lobster dish we have ever tasted The Flat Iron is the place to go for your brunch. They also offer some of the best cheese plates that will suit any artisan cheese "foodie". I was lucky enough to discover one of the most refined Cheddar's here...Red Dragon, a Welsh cheddar with mustard seeds. Truly phenomenal. www.flatironsteakhouse.com. For BBQ lovers who prefer a more casual and faster dining experience check out Max's www.maxsbbq.com, our favorite is the pulled pork dinner. Red Hook's best kept dining secret can be found just at the edge of the town heading East. Mercato's has one of the most talented chef's at it's helm and it's not uncommon to run into some of our country's "celebrity" chefs enjoying the food themselves...seating here is also limited but it's worth a call. www.mercatoredhook.com
